Detroit Lions Sign Linebacker Damone Clark
The Detroit Lions have signed linebacker Damone Clark as an unrestricted free agent, the team announced on March 18, 2026.
Clark’s Background and Career
Clark, 25, joins the Lions after spending time with the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys. He was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the fifth round (176th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of LSU.
Throughout his four-year career, Clark has appeared in 55 games, making 26 starts. He has accumulated 190 total tackles, including six tackles for loss, four pass defenses, and two forced fumbles. In 2023, Clark started all 17 games for the Cowboys, leading the team with 109 tackles, adding four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and one fumble recovery.
Contract Details and Role with the Lions
The terms of Clark’s contract with the Lions were not disclosed. He signed a one-year deal with Detroit.
Clark’s arrival provides veteran depth to the Lions’ linebacker room, which includes starters Jack Campbell and Derrick Barnes. The Lions also re-signed Malcolm Rodriguez and Trevor Nowaske to one-year deals. While primarily a special teams contributor last season, appearing in 14 games with the Cowboys and Texans, Clark offers experience and competition for rotational snaps on defense.
