London Underground Weekend Closures: Piccadilly, District, and More Lines Affected

Londoners should prepare for significant disruptions to their weekend travel plans, March 7th and 8th, 2026, as Transport for London (TfL) undertakes essential maintenance and improvement function across several key Underground lines. The Piccadilly, District, and Metropolitan lines will be the most heavily impacted, with disruptions also affecting the London Overground, DLR, and Elizabeth line.

Piccadilly Line: Major Closures This Weekend

The most substantial closures will occur on the Piccadilly line, with no service operating between Cockfosters and Uxbridge throughout Saturday, March 7th, and Sunday, March 8th. This interruption will also extend to night services on Friday and Saturday. Trains will be limited to running between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport. Passengers traveling to and from Heathrow Airport are advised to utilize the Elizabeth line as an alternative route.

eastbound Piccadilly line trains will not stop at Barons Court station until June, requiring passengers to change at Hammersmith for onward travel.

Other London Underground Line Disruptions

Several other Underground lines will experience service alterations during the weekend:

• Hammersmith & City line: Service will be suspended across the entire line on both Saturday and Sunday.
• Circle line: No service will operate between Hammersmith and Tower Hill, or between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington. A special service will run between High Street Kensington and Barking.
• District line: Trains will not run between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road.
• Metropolitan line: The line will be closed between Baker Street and Aldgate.

Disruptions on Overground, DLR, and Elizabeth Line

The disruptions extend beyond the London Underground network:

• London Overground: The Windrush line will have no service between Highbury & Islington and Modern Cross Gate/New Cross/Clapham Junction all weekend. Incidents are also expected on the Mildmay and Liberty lines, with the latter having no service on Sunday.
• DLR: Trains will be suspended between Poplar/Stratford International and Beckton/Woolwich Arsenal throughout the weekend. No service will operate between Shadwell and Tower Gateway on Sunday.
• Elizabeth line: No trains will run between Stratford and Shenfield on Sunday. Service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway will not begin until 7:45 AM on Sunday.
• Waterloo & City line: Remains closed on weekends as usual.
