Dupaco Credit Union Expands Affordable Homeownership Options with Mortgage Rate Relief Program
Dubuque, Iowa – Dupaco Credit Union is partnering with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) to expand access to affordable homeownership through the Mortgage Rate Relief program. This initiative aims to lower borrowing costs for income-qualified homebuyers by permanently reducing mortgage interest rates by up to 1.5% below current market rates.
Program Details
The Mortgage Rate Relief program offers qualified homebuyers a rate as low as 4.967% APR, as of March 2, 2026. This represents a potential reduction of up to 1.5% compared to prevailing market rates. Since its launch in 2024, Dupaco has applied over $9.3 million in grant funds to members’ home loans through this program.
Increased Funding for 2026
For 2026, Dupaco has been awarded an additional $6 million in funding from FHLB Des Moines, enabling the credit union to assist even more eligible members in purchasing homes. This builds on the success of the program, which focuses on providing long-term savings and strengthening the financial stability of homebuyers.
