Cognizant Seeks Mainframe SCM Administrator to Optimize ChangeMan ZMF and Endevor

Cognizant is seeking a Mainframe SCM Administrator to strengthen and evolve its mainframe configuration management environment. This remote position, open to qualified applicants in San Antonio, TX, focuses on supporting and optimizing Rocket ChangeMan ZMF (formerly a Micro Focus product) and CA Endevor, aiming to improve deployment reliability, reduce risk, and enable more efficient software delivery across critical systems.

Role Responsibilities

The Mainframe SCM Administrator will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

• Installing, configuring, and maintaining ChangeMan ZMF and Endevor, including SMP/E upgrades for z/OS and ISV products.
• Monitoring system performance, started tasks, and library utilization to ensure a stable and highly available environment.
• Defining and maintaining application libraries, component types, and compile/link procedures across environments.
• Configuring and managing promotion workflows, including development, test, and production stages, approvals, and deployments.
• Managing the full package lifecycle – CREATE, CAST, REVIEW, EXECUTE, and COMMIT – ensuring audit compliance and successful promotions.
• Diagnosing and resolving compile, promotion, audit, dependency, and version inconsistency issues, including out-of-sync conditions.
• Defining and maintaining Endevor inventory structures and processor groups (BUILD, TEST, MOVE, DELETE, MODIFY) and supporting code movement across stages.
• Configuring and maintaining user access, security controls, and compliance within configuration management tools.
• Customizing and enhancing environments using REXX, ISPF panels, and skeletons, while improving workflows through automation and CI/CD integration.
• Supporting disaster recovery planning and execution and contributing to migration initiatives toward modern or alternative configuration management solutions.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• 10+ years of experience with ChangeMan ZMF administration.
• 10+ years of experience with Endevor administration.
• Strong expertise in the z/OS mainframe environment.
• Hands-on experience with SMP/E installations and maintenance.
• Proficiency in JCL.
• A deep understanding of software lifecycle management within mainframe SCM tools.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across compile, deployment, audit, and package management issues.

Desirable Skills

The following skills are considered a plus:

• Experience with z/OSMF.
• Exposure to CI/CD integration within mainframe environments.
• Experience with REXX, ISPF customization, and automation.
• Familiarity with migration from legacy tools to Git-based or modern platforms.
• Understanding of enterprise release management or DevOps practices.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $99,000 to $115,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program.
