The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. On the main portion of the southbound lanes just before Grand Avenue Parkway. According to DPS, the crash involved a pedestrian and resulted in at least one death. All southbound lanes were closed for several hours even as troopers investigated the scene. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation. SigAlert first reported the incident around 5:19 a.m., noting it as a major crash causing stopped traffic with anticipated delays of up to an hour. By mid-morning, DPS confirmed that all southbound lanes of I-35 near the crash site had been reopened.
