Police Launch Murder Investigation After Limerick Woman Disappears in Co Fermanagh
Detectives in Northern Ireland have launched a murder investigation and arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the disappearance of 39-year-old Carrie Mullane (Noonan) from Limerick. Ms Mullane travelled to Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, on Saturday, October 10, and has not been seen or heard from since.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it holds serious concerns that Ms Mullane may have been the victim of a violent crime. Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton from the Serious Crime Branch stated that it is extremely out of character for Ms Mullane to cut off contact with her loved ones, noting that she was usually in almost daily communication with them.
Bus Journey to Enniskillen and Unknown Movements
Investigators have traced Ms Mullane’s movements to the evening of her arrival in Northern Ireland. She arrived at the bus depot on Wellington Road in Enniskillen on October 10, accompanied by a man known to her. From the depot, the pair took a taxi to an address in Trasna Park at approximately 9:00 PM. That taxi ride remains the last confirmed sighting of Ms Mullane.
Police have investigated unverified reports suggesting she might have travelled to the Derry/Londonderry area the following day, October 11. However, the PSNI confirmed that officers have found no evidence to verify those claims.
Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Murder
An Garda Síochána formally reported concerns for Ms Mullane’s wellbeing to the PSNI on October 29. Police immediately classified her as a high-risk missing person and initiated an extensive search. Enquiries have included CCTV examinations, house-to-house inquiries, electronic analysis, and witness interviews.

Because these exhaustive searches failed to locate her, investigators shifted the focus of the case. The PSNI arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the disappearance on suspicion of murder. Two PSNI Family Liaison Officers travelled to Limerick to meet with Ms Mullane’s family and provide support.
Public Appeal for Information
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Ms Mullane’s disappearance to come forward. When she was last seen at the Enniskillen bus depot, she stood 1.67m (5’6″) tall, had a slim build with shoulder-length brown hair, and wore a blue waist-length jacket, light blue jeans, and white trainers. She carried a pink shoulder bag and an orange coloured shopping bag.
Anyone who saw Ms Mullane during the weekend of October 10 or anytime afterward can contact the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team by calling 101 and asking for extension 40374, quoting reference number 272 29/10/26. Individuals in the Republic of Ireland can reach emergency services by calling 999 or 112, and anonymous tips can be submitted through the Crimestoppers charity.
