Timothy Very, longtime drummer for the Atlanta-based rock group Manchester Orchestra, has died at the age of 42. The band announced his passing on Saturday, February 15, 2026, though the cause of death has not been disclosed.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Instagram, Manchester Orchestra members Andy Hull, Robert McDowell and Andy Prince described Very as “the most beloved human being any of us were lucky enough to know in this life.” They expressed their devastation at his sudden passing and remembered him for his infectious laugh, kindness, and warmth.

The band highlighted Very’s ability to make everyone feel welcomed and encouraged, emphasizing his humor and energy as foundational to the Manchester Orchestra community. Very joined Manchester Orchestra in 2011, following the departure of former drummer Jeremiah Emond. He contributed to the band’s albums Cope and its acoustic version Hope (2014), A Black Mile to the Surface (2017), and The Million Masks of God (2021).
