Jorge Martin Acknowledges Bezzecchi’s Dominance at Thailand MotoGP
Aprilia Racing Team rider Jorge Martin has conceded that his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, demonstrated a superior level of performance at the Thailand MotoGP Grand Prix. Bezzecchi secured pole position and a decisive victory at Buriram, while Martin finished fourth, as Aprilia riders claimed four of the top five positions.
Despite still recovering from a challenging 2025 season, Martin acknowledged Bezzecchi’s exceptional form. Speaking after Saturday’s events, Martin expressed satisfaction with his progress but refrained from directly comparing himself to his teammate.
“I think qualifying is now what I’m focused on,” Martin stated. “In terms of pace, taking away Marco, let’s say, because he’s on another level at the moment, I’m not that far [from] second or third position.”
Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez echoed this sentiment, likewise describing Bezzecchi’s performance as “another level” after Sunday’s race. However, Bezzecchi remained cautious about drawing definitive conclusions, emphasizing the length of the 22-race MotoGP schedule.
“For sure, Aprilia did a good job this winter,” Bezzecchi said. “They’ve been working super hard through the break to try to bring us some essential items to try. Of course, this was important, but I have to say that it’s also extremely, very early to say this. It’s only one race. The championship is very, very long. So let’s try to keep ourselves calm. Focus always. [We are] super hungry to try to create the best of every weekend that we can.”
Bezzecchi experienced a setback during Saturday’s sprint race, crashing after taking an early lead. Martin, who assessed his weekend performance at a 9/10, believes he will be able to challenge Bezzecchi’s pace once he reaches full fitness.
“As soon as I can attack as I want, I think I will make another small step. And this small step will bring me to the fight for victories,” the Spaniard concluded.
