Oluchi Okananwa Named to D’Tigress Roster for U.S. WNBA Exhibition Tour Maryland women’s basketball junior Oluchi Okananwa has been selected for Nigeria’s national team, D’Tigress, ahead of a three-game exhibition tour against WNBA franchises in the United States. The tour, which serves as preparation for Nigeria’s upcoming international schedule, begins with a training camp in Los Angeles on April 18, 2026. Okananwa, who recently pledged her international future to Nigeria, will build her senior national team debut during the tour. She joins a 21-player roster that includes experienced internationals such as Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara, and Victoria Macaulay, along with emerging talents like teenage prospect Danielle Osho and Stephanie Okechukwu, the tallest player in NCAA women’s basketball history. The D’Tigress will open their exhibition schedule against the Los Angeles Sparks on April 25 in San Diego, California. They will then face the Minnesota Lynx on April 27 in Kansas City before concluding the tour with a game against the Indiana Fever on May 2 in Indianapolis. Notably, the team will be without captain Amy Okonkwo, who is under contract with the Dallas Wings, and Elizabeth Balogun and Murjanatu Musa, who remain unavailable due to club commitments. The Lynx matchup on April 27 will mark only the fourth time a WNBA franchise has hosted an international team, underscoring the significance of the tour for Nigeria’s women’s basketball program as it continues to compete against elite global opposition.
