Opportunities in the New MASE Tender for Renewable Energy Self-Consumption

The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has launched a new notice to support projects for self-production of energy from renewable sources (FER),funded under Priority 2 of the National Research,Innovation and Competitiveness Program 2021-2027.This initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of businesses, particularly in Southern Italy, through investments that encourage reduction of energy costs, productive autonomy, and ecological transition.

The intervention falls under Action 2.2.1 “Growth of electricity production from RES,” with the goal of supporting the spread of photovoltaic systems and renewable production systems intended for self-consumption,aligning with the DNSH principle and national and European climate strategies.

the announcement intends to incentivize:

* The installation of new renewable energy plants for self-consumption.
* The production of clean energy and reduction of climate-altering emissions.
* The competitiveness of businesses through lower energy costs and greater resilience to energy price fluctuations.
* The balanced growth of less developed territories, with positive effects on productivity and employment.

The measure is fully consistent with the climate objectives of the PNIEC 2030 and the European drive for decarbonization of the production system.

The MASE tender for self-production of energy from RES represents one of the most concrete measures to support the energy transition of businesses, offering a mix of financial incentives, procedural simplifications, and strategic orientation towards a more enduring and competitive production system.

For businesses in the south, this is a particularly relevant possibility, allowing them to reduce structural costs, increase energy resilience, and contribute to national decarbonization efforts.

interested parties can submit applications starting December 3, 2025, until March 3, 2026.

Projects can be submitted by:

* Businesses of any size, individually or in aggregate form.
* Operating in the territories of Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, and sicily, in line with the IC PN strategy.
