McDonald’s Confirms 2026 Pokémon Happy Meal Promotion and Card Set
McDonald’s has confirmed a new Pokémon promotion for its Happy Meal, arriving in late 2026 to mark the 30th anniversary of the franchise’s 1996 debut in Japan. The campaign introduces a yellow Pikachu-head box containing a toy and a foil pack of cards, bringing back 3D molded figures for the first time in nearly a decade alongside a targeted trading card game collection.
The rollout begins in November 2026 across the United States, Canada, Australia, France, New Zealand, Spain, and Fiji. Additional markets will receive the stock through December 2026, while Latin America and Asian countries are scheduled for January 2027. The United Kingdom and Ireland will follow in February 2027.
McDonald’s x Pokémon is back! 🍟Starting November 10th in the US, Happy Meals will feature 15 different mini Happy Meal box Pokémon toys, with each toy including 2 random cards from a 15-card set! The full card set hasn't been revealed yet. I NEED THESE!!! pic.twitter.com/lALVlfxVEp
Contrasting Card Counts and Toy Designs Across Reports
Reports outline differing details on the contents of the promotional packs. Each Happy Meal will include two randomized cards from a specialized set of 15, featuring popular reprints like Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax, and Jirachi credited to artists such as Kodama, Miki Kudo, and DOM. Other reports suggest that packages may contain four cards—including one holographic card and three normal cards—printed across a 15-card selection featuring six special confetti-foil variants.
The physical toy lineup also marks a shift in strategy. The campaign revives traditional 3D figures, offering 15 mini Happy Meal boxes styled as characters like Pikachu, Eevee, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. These are thematic versions of the McDonald’s icon. Mexican locations will also feature themed packaging for apple slices alongside the main collection.

Mexican Market Schedule and Pricing Uncertainty
For buyers in Mexico, the promotion arrives in January 2027. While the official launch window is set, pricing remains unconfirmed. Historical pricing for standard Happy Meals hovers around 120 Mexican pesos, and past licensed promotions have generally maintained standard menu pricing without mandatory increases.
Unresolved Demand Controls and Purchase Limits
High-demand Pokémon promotions have historically created inventory shortages, widespread secondary market resale, and food waste incidents that occasionally required police intervention in international markets like Japan. Although McDonald’s has previously attempted to curb these issues by enforcing purchase limits or allowing toys to be purchased separately, the company has not yet announced whether those protective measures will return for the 2026 release.
