Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Travel Overseas for School Break Amid Thomas Markle Sr. Investigation
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry traveled overseas with their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, for the UK school half-term break, Page Six reported. Royal sources confirmed that the family trip to an unknown location coincided with news that Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., is being investigated in the Philippines for allegedly possessing child pornography.
“I wouldn’t describe Meghan as having fled the UK following the allegations against her father,” royal journalist Andrea Caamano told Page Six. Caamano explained that the family was already out of the country for the October half-term holiday when the news broke.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Page Six that the trip offers a chance for the Sussexes to spend time with their children while letting the initial headlines settle. Both insiders anticipate that the family will return to the UK by the end of the week so the children can resume school.
Allegations Against Thomas Markle Sr. Spark Distress and Estrangement Context
Thomas Markle Sr. is facing a local police investigation in the Philippines after his son, Thomas Jr., allegedly discovered a trove of child sexual abuse images and videos in his father’s belongings, as reported by The Sun. Thomas Sr. has denied the allegations, calling them “sick lies,” while his other daughter, Samantha Markle, defended him and accused Thomas Jr. of lying.
Meghan, who has been estranged from her father since 2018, released a statement via People describing the accusations as “deeply distressing.” She stated that she had been aware of troubling allegations for years and reiterated that keeping distance from her father was intended solely to protect her children.
A friend close to the Duchess told HELLO! magazine that Meghan is “really, really upset” and has been dealing with an emotional toll while looking after her own young children.

Palace Stance and Return to the United Kingdom
Royal commentators indicate that the British royal family is unlikely to intervene or offer public support regarding the investigation into Thomas Markle Sr. Caamano told Page Six on October 28 that relations remain complicated following Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK in August after living in California for six years.
“I don’t see the Palace wanting to become involved in matters concerning Meghan’s father,” Caamano said, adding that King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales will likely concentrate on their royal duties.
Despite the negative headlines, Caamano expects Meghan to resume promoting her business ventures, including her As Ever holiday collection, upon her return to Britain at the end of the week.
