The state of Morelos in Mexico officially ended the 2025-2026 academic cycle on Wednesday, July 15, with 322,535 students across preschool, primary, and secondary levels completing their studies, according to the Secretaría de Educación del Gobierno del Estado de Morelos.

The academic cycle concluded with the participation of 322,535 students in public and private schools across Morelos. Karla Aline Herrera Alonso, head of the Secretaría de Educación, praised the dedication of students and teachers, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a “humanistic, inclusive, and quality education” that prioritizes the holistic development of students. This statement aligns with the broader goals of the state government led by Governor Margarita González Saravia.

Safety Measures During School Breaks

Raúl Aguirre Espitia, director general of the Instituto de la Educación Básica del Estado de Morelos (IEBEM), highlighted the collaborative efforts of the educational community in completing the academic calendar on time. He also announced that teachers would participate in a “Taller Intensivo para Personal Docente” on July 16 and 17, 2026, as part of the cycle’s closure. Additionally, the IEBEM will coordinate with the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC) to enhance security around schools during the break, including preventive patrols to safeguard school infrastructure.

Call for Community Vigilance

Aguirre urged parents, guardians, and the public to report any suspicious activity that could threaten school safety. This measure underscores the government’s focus on creating secure learning environments, a priority reiterated by Herrera Alonso during her remarks on the students’ academic achievements.
