‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Pauses Production Amid Domestic Dispute

Production on the fifth season of Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has been temporarily halted following a domestic incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. The pause comes as Paul prepares to star in the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette,” marking a first for the franchise.

Domestic Dispute Investigation

The Draper City Police Department in Utah confirmed to People magazine that a domestic assault investigation is currently open involving Paul and Mortensen. According to police, allegations have been made by both parties, and contact was made with those involved on February 24th and 25th. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the production pause.

Complicated Relationship History

Paul and Mortensen share a son, Ever, born in March 2024. US Magazine details a history of a volatile relationship, including a previous domestic violence arrest. Their relationship began before the premiere of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” in September 2024, following Paul’s divorce from Tate Paul after a “soft swinging” scandal. Paul ended the relationship with Mortensen in 2025 after discovering he had been sexting a family friend.

Impact on ‘The Bachelorette’ and ‘SLOMW’

The timing of the incident is particularly challenging for Paul, who is set to lead the next season of “The Bachelorette.” Speaking at the Season 22 premiere on March 17, Paul told People, “My heart hurts to spot it, to go through it, especially at this time…Just the timing is hard, and it’s a big deal.” She also expressed frustration that every premiere experience she’s had has been difficult to fully enjoy. USA Today reports Paul stated there is “more to the story” but refrained from providing further details at the premiere.

A representative for Mortensen stated his priority is protecting their son, Ever, and defended him against claims he intentionally delayed the disclosure of the incident. The representative asserted Mortensen did not want to be seen as proactively releasing the information, as he desires a positive relationship with Paul.

Future of Production

As of March 18, 2026, production on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” remains paused whereas the situation unfolds. Sources indicate the cast is distancing themselves from Paul amid the allegations. NBC News reported that Hulu has not yet responded to requests for comment.
