Newfoundland and Labrador is experiencing significant investment in healthcare infrastructure, including a new urgent care centre in Conception Bay South and expansions to long-term care facilities across the province. These projects aim to improve access to care, reduce wait times, and address the evolving needs of the population.
New Urgent Care Centre in Conception Bay South
A new Urgent Care Centre opened in Conception Bay South on January 12, 2026, to provide residents with access to care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Located at the Unity Health Centre, 28 Stavanger Drive in St. John’s, the facility operates seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. To 8:00 p.m. This centre is intended to alleviate pressure on overcrowded emergency departments in the region.
Expansion of Long-Term Care Facilities
The province is also investing in expanding long-term care capacity. These projects include the addition of specialized beds, such as dementia beds, and acute care beds. Eastern Health provides a list of long-term care and residential services facilities in Conception Bay South, including Blue Crest Nursing Home and Bonavista Bungalows Protective Community Residence.
Conception Bay South Clinic Services
The Conception Bay South Clinic, located at 130 CBS Highway, Manuels, provides community care, community support, mental health and addictions services, and public health programs. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. To 4:30 p.m.
