N’PY Celebrates 20 Years Transforming Mountain Tourism in the Pyrenees

N’PY (Nouvelles Pyrénées), a collective of eight emblematic resorts in the French Pyrenees, is celebrating two decades of innovation and collaboration. What began in 2003 as a partnership between five stations – Peyragudes, Grand Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Gourette, and La Pierre Saint-Martin – to promote the region, has evolved into a unique model of collective intelligence and digital success at the European level.

A Bold Beginning and Continued Growth

Initially formed as an association called S4S (Stratégie des 4 stations), the organization officially became N’PY in 2005. The core mission was to foster collaboration rather than competition, aiming to enhance the appeal of the entire Pyrenees mountain range. Today, N’PY encompasses Cauterets, Gourette, Grand Tourmalet (Barèges – La Mongie), La Pierre Saint-Martin, Luz-Ardiden, Peyragudes, Piau-Engaly, and the Pic du Midi [1].

Digital Pioneer and Economic Impact

N’PY has been a leader in the digitalization of the ski sector, pioneering online ski pass sales and the creation of the No Souci Pyrénées Club. This club, now boasting over 122,000 members, is the largest of its kind, offering benefits like the Fast Pass to bypass lift lines and exclusive discounts at 14 stations [2].

The network’s economic impact is significant, generating €72.9 million in revenue and attracting 2.17 million visitors. N’PY has also invested €12.22 million in improvements, including fresh artificial snow systems at Grand Tourmalet and smart ticket offices in Piau and Luz Ardiden [2].

20th Anniversary Celebrations: A Season of Events

To mark its 20th anniversary, N’PY has planned a season filled with events blending sport, music, and technology.

N’PY Party in Cauterets (March 7-8)

A highlight of the celebrations is the N’PY Party in Cauterets on March 7th and 8th. This event features:

• N’PY Games: A series of playful winter sports competitions, including Boardercross, Biathlon, Yooner Race, Parallel Slalom, and a final “Tout Schuss” event.
• N’PY Night: A music festival on March 7th with performances by NTO, Yuksek, and La Fine Equipe, accompanied by mapping projections.
• N’PY Kids: A family-friendly day on March 8th with laser games, a treasure hunt, a Trampo Park, and children’s workshops.
• N’PY Village: A space to test the latest ski equipment and enjoy a gastronomic experience, including an oyster bar and raclette.

Monthly Themed Events

The celebrations extend throughout the N’PY domain with a calendar of monthly events:

• February 20-21 (Ardiden): Light The Luz Winter Fest with concerts by Kavinsky, Feder, and Bon Entendeur.
• February 26 (Piau-Engaly): Retro Piau, featuring vintage ski attire and DJ Philippe Corti.
• March 14-15 (Pierre Saint-Martin): Banked Slalom.
• March 28-29 (Peyragudes): Closing Marsien, a festive weekend to conclude the season.

Concert at the Pic du Midi (April 4)

The anniversary celebrations culminate with a concert by Klingande at the Pic du Midi on April 4th. Tickets, priced at €99, include the return cable car ride [2].
