Ohio State Wide Receiver Brandon Inniss Driven by Disappointing 2025 Season
As spring football approaches for the Ohio State Buckeyes, a sense of motivation permeates the team, fueled by the sting of a disappointing finish to the 2025 season. Senior wide receiver Brandon Inniss is among those determined to erase the memories of back-to-back losses to Indiana, and Miami.
Inniss, who recorded 271 receiving yards and three touchdowns last season, expressed his lingering frustration in a recent interview with Eleven Warriors. “We’ve still got a bad taste in our mouth,” Inniss said. “This whole year, we’re going to be living with that, what happened to us. But we’ve got to work hard. Ain’t nothing going to be given to us. We’ve just got to be where our feet are right now and work hard in the offseason.”
The Buckeyes suffered a setback in the Big Ten title game against Indiana, and their College Football Playoff hopes were dashed by an upset loss to Miami. Despite the setbacks, Ohio State retains a significant amount of returning talent, including Inniss, Jeremiah Smith, and Julian Sayin.
Ryan Day Maintains Confidence in Inniss as Punt Returner
Despite a fumble during the recent game against Washington, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day continues to express confidence in Brandon Inniss as the team’s punt returner. Whereas acknowledging that Inniss “needs to hold onto the ball,” Day highlighted Inniss’s previous success, noting his long punt returns in the last two games Scarlet and Game.
The fumble against Washington allowed the Huskies to score a field goal, taking a 3-0 lead. However, Ohio State’s defense prevented further damage.
Inniss’s Role in the Offense
While Inniss is expected to contribute significantly on special teams, he is also poised to showcase his versatility in the offense during the 2026 season MSN. He has shown promise, with eight catches for 71 yards this season, but has yet to reach the end zone.
The Buckeyes will begin spring practice on March 10, providing the first opportunity to assess the progress of the 2026 team. Inniss and his teammates are expected to approach the season with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to prove doubters wrong.
The Ohio State football team secured a 24-6 victory over Washington last weekend, though it wasn’t their most polished performance AtoZ Sports. The team is still processing the end of the 2025 season, with a two-game losing streak weighing on their minds.
