173 Young Buyers in Lleida Receive €3.36 Million in Interest-Free Loans for First Homes
One hundred seventy-three young people across Lleida province have received interest-free loans from the Catalan government totaling €3.363 million to cover the down payment on their first homes, segre.com reported. The loans, administered by the Institut Català de Finances through a youth emancipation fund, cover 20% of each property’s value and carry no interest, with repayment due over a maximum of 35 years only after the mortgage has been paid off.
Thirty-nine of the beneficiaries are from Lleida city, where the average aid reached €28,726.23 and the average purchase price was €149,290.36. Across the province, the average loan was €26,910.44 toward homes costing an average of €138,829.04. Sixty percent of recipients bought with sole ownership, and their average age is 29.7.
Most Rented Before Buying
Before receiving the aid, 61% of provincial beneficiaries and 57% of those in the capital lived in rental housing. Another 31.2% across the province and 39.3% in the city lived with their parents, while just 2.4% were in ceded housing. Seven beneficiaries did not specify their prior living situation.

The loans have been available since June 2025 to applicants under 40 who earn enough to qualify for a mortgage but lack the savings for a down payment. The ICF fund also subsidizes two percentage points of the interest rate. While borrowers are paying their mortgage, they pay only monthly interest on the government loan.
