Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max: Flagship Performance at a Mid-Range Price

Xiaomi’s Poco sub-brand has launched two new smartphones – the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max – targeting users seeking flagship-level performance without the premium price tag. The X8 Pro Max, in particular, aims to challenge more expensive high-conclude models.

Price and Availability

As of March 18, 2026, pricing and availability are as follows:

  • Poco X8 Pro Max: 12GB + 512GB configuration for CZK 13,299. Introductory pricing of CZK 11,699 is available until March 31, 2026.
  • Poco X8 Pro: 8GB + 256GB for CZK 9,299 and 12GB + 512GB for CZK 10,799. Introductory pricing starts at CZK 7,699 until March 31, 2026.

Poco X8 Pro Max: A New Performance Standard

The Poco X8 Pro Max is the first phone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. Built on a 3nm manufacturing process, the chipset achieves over 3,085,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark [Xiaomi Global]. A 5800 mm² liquid cooling system with a 3D structure is designed to improve thermal performance, reducing SoC temperature by up to 3°C compared to the Poco X7 Pro.

The device supports hardware ray tracing, currently implemented in games like Diablo Immortal. Poco also includes software enhancements that predict computational demands to maintain stable frame rates and reduce power consumption.

The X8 Pro Max features a metal frame with a fiberglass back panel and a camera module with programmable RGB backlighting. It is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance [Xiaomi Global].

Massive Battery and Fast Charging

A standout feature of the X8 Pro Max is its 8500mAh battery, the largest capacity in a conventional (non-outdoor) phone currently available in Europe [GSMarena]. Xiaomi estimates at least two days of battery life, with the battery retaining over 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles (approximately six years of normal employ).

The phone supports 100W HyperCharge via cable, achieving 50% charge in 24 minutes, and 27W reverse charging via USB-C. Wireless charging is not supported.

Display and Camera Specifications

The X8 Pro Max boasts a 6.83″ 1.5K (2772 × 1280 px) AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3500 nits (covering 25% of the screen area) and a PWM dimming rate of 3840 Hz [Xiaomi Global]. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is integrated under the display.

The main camera utilizes a 50MP Light Fusion 600 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). An UltraSnap function allows for continuous shooting of up to 120 images. The camera system also includes an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 20MP selfie camera.

Poco X8 Pro: A More Compact Alternative

The Poco X8 Pro offers a more compact and lightweight design, weighing 17 grams less and being 5mm shorter than the X8 Pro Max. It features the Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset.

The X8 Pro includes a 6.59″ AMOLED display with similar parameters to the X8 Pro Max, including 3500 nits peak brightness and 3840 Hz PWM dimming. It has a 6500 mAh battery and a 50Mpx Sony IMX882 sensor for the main camera.

Key differences include an optical fingerprint sensor (instead of ultrasonic) and Wi-Fi 6 support (compared to Wi-Fi 7 on the Pro Max).
