Sporting CP capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Manuel Pozo leveling the score in the 59th minute. Further drama unfolded as Costinha of Fafe also received a red card due to accumulated yellow cards, leaving both teams with ten players.
In the other semi-final pairing, FC Porto, the record 20-time Portuguese Cup champions, will face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Sporting, the current title holder and two-time national champion, and AVS, currently at the bottom of the Primeira Liga.That match is scheduled to take place on Thursday in Lisbon.
