Promise David Injury Update: Canadian Striker Suffers Hip Injury in Union SG Victory

Union Saint-Gilloise striker Promise David was stretchered off during his team’s 2-1 win over Royal Antwerp on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Initial reports suggested a head injury, but subsequent examinations revealed discomfort in his left hip.

What Happened?

The incident occurred in the 76th minute of the Belgian Pro League match when David and Antwerp defender Daam Foulon collided while competing for a cross delivered by Adem Zorgane. Both players were initially conscious but displayed clear discomfort. David grabbed his left hip, while Foulon clutched his head.

Medical staff promptly attended to David and he was eventually removed from the pitch on a stretcher.

Initial Diagnosis and Updates

While initial concerns centered around a potential head injury, David Hubert, provided an update after the match stating the injury appeared to be to the hip. “Going out on a stretcher is never quality,” Hubert said. “He is going to have tests at the hospital, let’s hope it’s just as a precaution. It’s at the hip, not the head. He fell badly and his leg remains stuck under his body. We really hope we can preserve this boy, an attraction in our championship.” Le Soir

Further radiological examinations at the hospital revealed no fracture. David returned home with treatment and is scheduled for additional scans and examinations early next week. Le Soir
