Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty left a Sunday training camp practice early after suffering an apparent right knee injury, according to local reports. The second-year back landed awkwardly on turf grass inside the facility after diving for a low pass thrown by veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, as reported by ESPN.

The Injury and Immediate Response

During the team period, Jeanty could not put pressure on his right leg as trainers helped him off the field, per ESPN reporting. Teammates subsequently took a knee in prayer following the exit. The Raiders organization did not provide an immediate statement or further details regarding the severity of the injury, according to NFL.com.

Impact on the Raiders’ Roster

Rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. took the remaining first-team repetitions for the duration of Sunday’s practice. Washington had been alternating starting reps with Jeanty throughout training camp and the preseason. Jeanty, selected sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, rushed for 975 yards and five touchdowns across 17 starts as a rookie while adding 346 receiving yards and five additional scores.

Running Back Depth in Las Vegas

If Jeanty misses substantial playing time under first-year head coach Klint Kubiak, the Raiders feature several alternative backfield options. The current roster depth includes:

  • Mike Washington Jr., a rookie who has impressed during training camp and preseason action
  • Dylan Laube
  • Roman Hemby, an undrafted rookie
  • Dare Ogunbowale, a veteran tailback
  • Fullbacks Connor Heyward and Patrick Gurd

Most of Las Vegas’ projected starters, including Jeanty, sat out the team’s Week 2 preseason victory against the Houston Texans prior to Sunday’s practice.
