Solid Snake Infiltrates Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Silent Hunt

The legendary Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series has joined Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent Operator with the launch of Operation Silent Hunt on March 3, 2026.1 This crossover brings a unique blend of stealth tactics and tactical gameplay to the popular tactical shooter.

Solid Snake’s Unique Gadget: The Soliton Radar MKIII

Solid Snake’s primary asset is the Soliton Radar MKIII, a handheld device that displays the floorplan of his immediate surroundings and detects enemy positions.4 The radar covers the floor Snake is on, as well as connected staircases, highlighting soft walls (dotted lines) and floors (striped background) for potential breaches.1

The radar’s color-coded alerts provide crucial information:

  • Green (All Clear): No immediate threats detected. However, caution is advised as Defenders can employ tactics to deceive the radar.
  • Yellow (Caution): A nearby CCTV camera (or default camera) is being observed by an enemy.
  • Red (Alert): One or more enemies have been detected nearby. Activating Precision Mode provides the exact location of enemies and their facing direction.4

The Soliton Radar MKIII is particularly effective for post-plant scenarios, monitoring a planted defuser, and quickly assessing areas while rappelling.4

On-Site Procurement: Adapting to the Battlefield

Reflecting Solid Snake’s ability to improvise, the On-Site Procurement ability allows him to resupply secondary gadgets by looting eliminated enemies or allies (excluding those killed by friendly fire).4 He can carry up to five different secondary gadgets simultaneously, including fragmentation, stun, smoke, and demolition charges.4

Snake’s Arsenal

Solid Snake is equipped with two primary weapon options inspired by the Metal Gear Solid series: the F2 assault rifle, known for its high rate of fire, and the PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle, offering power and the option for a silencer.4 His secondary weapon is the TACIT .45 pistol, featuring an integrated silencer and reflex sight.4

Metal Gear Solid Integration

The Operation Silent Hunt season extends beyond Solid Snake’s inclusion. The Battle Pass instantly unlocks Solid Snake and features Metal Gear Solid cosmetics, including a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke.1 A limited-time event, [REDACTED], will debut in a few weeks, introducing a new gameplay mode, additional Metal Gear Solid outfits, and a team-up between Solid Snake and Sam Fisher (Zero from Splinter Cell).1,4

Countering Solid Snake

Defenders can counter Solid Snake’s radar by recognizing that he is vulnerable while using it.4 Strategies include using Alibi’s Prism Decoys, employing Vigil’s cloaking ability, utilizing Valkyrie’s Black Eyes, Echo’s Yokai drones, Maestro’s Evil Eyes, Mozzie’s captured drones, or taking advantage of verticality, as the radar only scans the current floor.4

The Operation Silent Hunt season is available now in Rainbow Six Siege, bringing a unique and exciting crossover to the game.
