“Manos y Voces de Carranque” Association Receives Regional Recognition for Breast Cancer support
The “Manos y Voces de Carranque” Association has been honored by the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha for its impactful work providing support to women battling breast cancer. This recognition, bestowed in a ceremony at the San Clemente Cultural Center in Toledo on November 29, 2025, underscores the vital role community organizations play in complementing medical care and fostering emotional wellbeing during challenging health journeys. The event featured the inauguration of the art exhibition “Hearts with Soul” and the presentation of the book “heart with Soul… told for all ages,” both serving as powerful expressions of solidarity and hope.
A Multifaceted Approach to Breast Cancer support
The association’s contribution extends beyond traditional support methods, focusing on both the physical and emotional needs of patients. “Manos y Voces de Carranque” is best known for crafting and distributing over 1,500 solidarity cushions annually. These cushions are specifically designed to provide comfort and alleviate discomfort following breast cancer surgeries, a practical aid often overlooked in standard treatment protocols.
However, the institution’s impact is far more profound than simply providing physical relief. As Álvaro Gutiérrez, the Board’s delegate in Toledo, articulated, the project delivers “relief for the soul,” acknowledging the important emotional toll that a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment can take. This holistic approach, addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of the disease, is a cornerstone of the association’s success.
Community Collaboration and Government Support
The success of “Manos y Voces de Carranque” is rooted in strong community collaboration and the dedication of its volunteer seamstresses. The regional government’s recognition highlights the importance of supporting these grassroots initiatives. Gutiérrez emphasized the government’s commitment to organizations like “Manos y Voces,” recognizing their crucial role in the broader effort to combat breast cancer.
The event was attended by a number of prominent local officials, including Daniel Arias, Vice President of the Toledo Provincial Council; manuel Galán, Deputy for Laboratory and Health Promotion; and Ana Pérez, Councilor for Culture of the Toledo City Council. Their presence underscored the widespread support for the association’s mission and the collective commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer.
“Hearts with Soul” Exhibition and Book Launch
The “Hearts with Soul” exhibition, open to the public until January 9th, showcases the association’s signature cushions alongside decorative artwork donated by artists who support the cause. This creative display serves as a powerful visual representation of the community’s unified fight against breast cancer.
complementing the exhibition is the book “Heart with Soul… told for all ages,” written by inmaculada Cruz Valenzuela and illustrated by laura Fuentes. This publication offers a message of hope and resilience, aiming to inspire both patients and their families.
