Resident Evil 3 Sees Surge in Players Following Resident Evil Requiem Launch

The recent release of Resident Evil Requiem has ignited a renewed interest in the Resident Evil franchise, leading to a significant spike in player activity for older titles within the series. Notably, Resident Evil 3, originally released almost six years ago, is experiencing its highest concurrent player count since its launch.

Resident Evil Fever Reaches New Heights

According to SteamDB, Resident Evil 3 reached 20,363 concurrent players on Steam on Sunday, March 23, 2026. Resident Evil Requiem launched on Steam and this figure represents a roughly fivefold increase compared to player counts observed since April 2020.

Resident Evil Requiem Breaks Series Records

The launch of Resident Evil Requiem has been exceptionally successful, with approximately 310,000 players on Steam roughly nine hours after its midnight (EST) release. The game is available on Steam, including a Deluxe Edition that includes the full game and a Deluxe Kit.

A 30th Anniversary Boost

This surge in popularity coincides with the 30th anniversary celebration of the Resident Evil series, which included substantial sales across the franchise on Steam.

Capcom’s success with the Resident Evil franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with the release of Resident Evil Requiem proving to be a major catalyst for renewed engagement across the series.
