Japanese vintage-casual retailer BerBerJin has collaborated with heritage sportswear brand Russell Athletic for a new capsule collection launching in select markets. According to the product release details, the collaboration reinterprets classic American athletic and workwear silhouettes using heavy-duty proprietary fabrics developed by Russell Athletic.

The collection features a sweatshirt-material recreation of the vintage “second type” denim jacket, designated under product code 111263-023. According to the release documentation, the garment utilizes “PRO COTTON,” a heavy-duty material exceeding 12.5 ounces originally developed for professional sports athletes in 1989. The jacket is priced at 24,000 Japanese yen plus tax and is available in Ash Gray, Navy, and Black colorways.
Pro Cotton Double Knee Sweat Pants Features
Pairing with the jacket, the collaboration includes a sweatpant variant styled after American workwear double-knee painter pants. Listed under code 111263-024 and priced at 20,000 yen plus tax, this item also uses the 1989-developed “PRO COTTON” fabric. The pants come in the same three color options: Ash Gray, Navy, and Black.
Slub Loopback Terry and Nu Blend Materials
The collection further incorporates elbow-patch sweatshirts (model 111263-025, priced at 16,800 yen plus tax) utilizing a slub yarn surface for added texture and a brushed interior for warmth in Pink and Beige. Additionally, a double-face crewneck sweatshirt (model 111263-026, priced at 13,800 yen plus tax) uses Russell Athletic’s 1991 “Nu Blend™” medium-weight cotton-polyester fleece, combining a cotton exterior with a polyester interior for moisture management.
