Alison King will add a Channel 4 pottery competition to her television schedule this year after The Sun reported that the Coronation Street star is set to appear on Celebrity Great Pottery Throwdown. Digital Spy reported that King, who plays Carla Connor on the ITV soap, will join five other celebrities in taking on two pottery challenges to impress the judges.
Six Celebrities Compete on the Pottery Wheel
The celebrity version of the series, hosted by Liza Tarbuck, sees six famous faces work at the wheel across the competition. Alongside King, the cast includes Taskmaster’s Fathia El-Ghorri, Would I Lie To You’s Lucy Beaumont, comedian Richard Herring, former footballer Paul Merson, actor Layton Williams and Strictly’s Denise Van Outen. Layton Williams won the first celebrity series after four contestants proceeded to the final, impressing judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller.
The show has run for nine seasons since 2015, with this year marking the first celebrity edition.
Carla Connor Lists Underworld for Sale
Meanwhile, King’s character on Coronation Street faces turmoil as Carla Connor has put the Underworld factory up for sale, leaving many residents without jobs. Carla remains unaware of Idris Nazir’s role in the business’s downfall, with actor Junade Khan hinting at his character’s desperation to claim the company. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
Channel 4 Has Not Confirmed Participation
The Sun reported both King’s participation and the show’s apparent return with a second season. Channel 4 hasn’t confirmed either detail, and Digital Spy has reached out to the broadcaster for comment.
What Remains Unconfirmed About the Appearance
Has Channel 4 confirmed Alison King is competing? No. The broadcaster hasn’t responded to Digital Spy’s request for comment about King’s spot on the show. The Sun originally reported her participation, but Channel 4 has stayed silent on the matter.
Will there be a second celebrity season? The Sun reported that the show is returning with a second season, but Channel 4 hasn’t confirmed this. Digital Spy’s request for comment to the broadcaster covers both King’s casting and the potential new season.
Until Channel 4 responds, King’s appearance on the pottery competition remains reported but unconfirmed by the broadcaster.
