Russia and China Condemn US Actions Towards Venezuela
New york – Russia and China have strongly criticized the United States for its military and economic pressure on Venezuela. Both countries labeled the US actions as “cowboy behavior” and “intimidation” during a UN Security Council meeting.
Venezuela, with backing from Moscow and Beijing, requested the emergency council meeting, accusing Washington of engaging in “the biggest blackmail ever seen in our history,” according to AFP reports on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
The US has significantly increased its military presence in the Caribbean and recently intercepted oil tankers as part of a naval blockade targeting Venezuelan vessels subject to sanctions. During Tuesday’s (December 23) meeting, US Ambassador Mike Waltz stated his country will take all necessary steps to safeguard US borders and citizens.
