The cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odesa were the main targets of the attack, according to the country’s air force.
Russia used 24 long-range missiles, one cruise missile and 219 drones in the night’s attack. The Ukrainian Air Force says in a message on Telegram that 16 of the missiles and 197 of the drones were shot down.
In Kyiv, an additional 2,600 apartment buildings are without heating due to the attacks, according to the city’s mayor, Vitaly Klitschko.

Two people were killed in the eastern city of Lozova, while two people in Kyiv were injured. The attack also injured four people in Dnipro in the center of the country, where around 10,000 customers have lost power.
– This is yet another attempt to deprive Ukrainians of basic services in the middle of winter. Efforts for recovery continue without stopping, says Deputy Prime Minister Oleksij Kuleba.
Ukraine has retaliated, saying it hit a weapons production facility in Russia’s Tambov region and a missile depot in the Volgograd region.
