Samsung’s 2026 Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator Integrates Google Gemini for Enhanced Food Management

Samsung Electronics has launched the 2026 model of its ‘Bespoke AI Family Hub’ refrigerator, featuring advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based food ingredient management capabilities. The new refrigerator integrates Google’s generative AI, Gemini, to significantly improve food recognition performance.

AI Vision Powered by Google Gemini

The refrigerator’s core innovation lies in its upgraded ‘AI Vision’ system, a function that utilizes an internal camera to identify food items. Previously, AI Vision could recognize up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of pre-registered processed or packaged foods [Samsung Newsroom]. The integration of Google Gemini expands this capability, allowing the refrigerator to recognize a wider range of food items without limitations on the number of types.

The AI Vision system can now identify both fresh and processed foods, and even recognize the contents of labels on containers, automatically adding them to the refrigerator’s food list [Chosun Biz]. This eliminates the necessitate for manual registration of items and streamlines food inventory management.

AI Food Manager and Enhanced Features

Complementing the AI Vision system is the ‘AI Food Manager,’ which provides a comprehensive food-related experience. This includes managing recognized ingredients and offering recipe recommendations based on available items [Chosun Biz].

Samsung has also upgraded its voice assistant, Bixby, enabling customized settings and functions through improved understanding of user intentions. The refrigerator is equipped with an ‘AI inverter compressor’ designed to optimize cooling efficiency and reduce power consumption. Users can activate ‘AI saving mode’ through SmartThings to potentially reduce energy usage by up to 25% [Chosun Biz].

Bespoke AI Wine Cellar and Kitchen Appliance Lineup

Alongside the refrigerator, Samsung is also introducing a new Bespoke AI Wine Cellar equipped with AI Vision powered by Google Gemini. A camera inside the cellar recognizes wine labels as bottles are stored or removed, automatically updating the SmartThings AI Wine Manager. The 2026 Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator is available in a clean white color. Pricing starts at 4.64 million won for the kitchen fit type and 5.84 million won for the freestanding model [Chosun Biz].

“The 2026 model ‘Bespoke AI Family Hub’ is a product that provides a new and smart kitchen experience based on generative AI,” said Moon Jong-seung, Vice President of DA Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to provide a more convenient kitchen environment and smart home experience through differentiated AI technology.” [Chosun Biz]
