Operation All Souls’ Day Launches Across São Paulo Highways

Operation All Souls’ Day is kicking into gear as estimates point to a significant increase in traffic on São Paulo’s highways, saopaulosecreto.com reported. Highway concessionaires and traffic agencies have activated special monitoring and operational support initiatives across the state’s busiest routes to manage heavy travel volumes between Friday and Saturday.

Traffic Systems Adjust Schedules and Lane Configurations

The Anchieta-Imigrantes System and the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System are operating under special schedules to accommodate travelers heading toward the coast and the capital. The Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System implemented its special schedule from October 30 through November 2, while the Anchieta-Imigrantes System plans to extend its service through November 3.

Operational reinforcements include CCR AutoBAn deploying 100% of its staff alongside 52 patrol vehicles. Ecovias forecasts that between 230,000 and 280,000 vehicles will travel toward the Baixada Santista and the South Coast, making special “Descida” and “Subida” operations crucial for traffic flow.

  • Anchieta-Imigrantes System: Operation Descida (7×3) utilizes seven lanes toward the coast and three toward the capital. Operation Subida (2×8) reverses the configuration with eight lanes heading to São Paulo and two serving the coast.
  • Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System: On Monday between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., truck drivers heading toward the capital on the Bandeirantes Highway must detour onto the Anhanguera Highway between km 48 and km 23 in Jundiaí.
  • Castello Branco-Raposo Tavares System: Restrictions begin Friday at 3:00 p.m. due to ongoing roadwork and pavement maintenance.

Return Travel Expectations for Monday

As travelers head back to the capital on Monday, the Anchieta-Imigrantes System expects high demand. Simultaneously, the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System forecasts peak traffic volumes between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

For motorists utilizing the Castello Branco Highway to leave the capital, operators recommend starting trips before 6:00 p.m. or after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, or before 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Toll road operators note that all estimated dates and times remain subject to change based on actual traffic patterns and congestion levels.
