Scott, Louisiana Barn Fire Kills Over 40 Animals
A late-night barn fire in Scott, Louisiana, resulted in the deaths of more than 40 animals on Monday, March 2, 2026. The fire, which occurred in the 1200 block of South Fieldspan Road, caused the complete loss of a metal barn.
Fire Department Response and Containment
The Scott Fire Department responded to the fire at approximately 10:06 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the barn fully engulfed in flames and posing a threat to two nearby homes. Defensive fire suppression operations were immediately initiated to protect the neighboring structures. Crews brought the fire under control within about 10 minutes, utilizing two fire engines and two 3,000-gallon tanker trucks to shuttle water from nearby hydrants KATC.
Cause of the Fire and Damage Assessment
Investigators determined the fire was caused by ordinary combustibles placed too close to a heat source The Advocate. The barn sustained extensive damage and was declared a total loss. Twenty-five rabbits and 18 chickens perished in the fire KATC.
No Injuries Reported
No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the fire. The Duson Fire Department and the Judice Fire Department provided assistance at the scene KATC Facebook.
