Episode 9: Continuing the Journey

Former civil servant and hunter Andis met the energetic Ināra,having already discovered shared interests during a fast date. “Adrenaline will be in any case, we are not that close to each other yet,” Andis admitted, adding, “That’s why I also applied for the show – maybe a miracle will happen!”

For a miracle to unfold, action was needed. Ināra and Andis’s date began with a stroll through Old Riga, where they openly shared experiences from speed dating with others. “I think we both know what we want,” Andis observed,a sentiment Ināra echoed: “I will tell you that the values are going up. The demands are higher now.”

The conversation continued over dinner, where Ināra noted, “A gallant man, with experience. If there is a woman next to him, he knows what to do: hand over a chair, take off his coat, address, smile. These are the values that can bind people together.”

A Latvian dating show is gaining attention for its… unique approach to finding love. On the show, participants aren’t afraid to be direct, and sometimes, a little unconventional.

One contestant, Gunārs, made headlines for his unusual method of assessing potential dates. He reportedly sniffed potential matches to check for alcohol consumption. He stated, “Inara is such a special woman, so nice. You can’t smell alcohol there, it needs to be good there.”

Gunārs also shared his reasons for appearing on the show. He explained, “You need a real person next to you, to see their smile, to feel their warmth. It’s easier for two to pay utilities, go somewhere, hold each other’s hand.”

Inara, who went on three quick dates, found her date with Gunārs to be the most memorable.She said, “The second impression is even better than the first. The Lord welcomed me with yellow chrysanthemums. Very beautiful! I had not received them for a long time.”

Their date included a visit to a dance studio. Gunārs confidently declared, “If people dance well, than everything will go well for them in bed.”

Inara admitted she hadn’t danced as the last century, lacking a partner. With guidance from an instructor, they revisited waltz steps and even attempted the chachacha.
