White Sox Bolster Bullpen with Veteran Reliever Yimi Domínguez

The Chicago White Sox have signed veteran reliever Yimi Domínguez to a deal, addressing a need in their bullpen following a recent trade.Domínguez, 31, will receive $7 million this year and $10 million in 2027, with a $12 million mutual option for 2028 that includes a $2 million buyout.

Domínguez comes to Chicago after spending parts of the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto blue Jays. He was acquired by Toronto mid-season in 2023, contributing to their playoff run which saw them reach the World Series. In 12 postseason games that year, Domínguez posted a 2-0 record with a 3.18 ERA.

Across 322 career games, Domínguez has a 23-23 record with a 3.50 ERA and 40 saves. He has proven to be a reliable strikeout threat, accumulating 360 strikeouts in 306 innings pitched. In 67 games last season, he went 4-4 with a 3.16 ERA and two saves.

The signing provides the white Sox with a potential closer, a role Domínguez is expected to fill. Chicago created a roster spot for Domínguez by designating infielder Bryan Ramos for assignment. The move was made possible by increased payroll flexibility gained after trading outfielder Luis Robert Jr. to the New York mets.
