Shawn Michaels Documentary Set to Premiere, Exploring WWE Legend’s Career and Legacy
A new documentary centered around WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is currently in development and nearing its premiere, offering a fresh look at the wrestling icon’s storied career and his current role within the company.
Documentary to Feature New Interviews
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the full-length feature will include several new interviews with Michaels’ peers and longtime adversaries. Fightful first reported the project on February 19, 2026. Ringside News and WrestleView likewise confirmed the documentary’s development.
Michaels’ Current Role in WWE
While an official release date has not been announced, the documentary is expected to delve into Michaels’ career achievements and his influence both inside and outside the ring. Currently, Michaels serves as the Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative for WWE’s NXT brand, a position he has held since the fall of 2021 when it was rebranded as NXT 2.0. He recently appointed Robert Stone as the Interim General Manager following Ava’s departure from WWE.
AJ Styles Reflects on Missed Opportunity
The timing of the documentary’s release is notable given Michaels’ current responsibilities in shaping the next generation of WWE talent. Recently, AJ Styles expressed regret over never having the opportunity to wrestle Michaels, stating that learning from him would have been “priceless.” Ringside News reported on Styles’ comments from an interview with Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed.
Royal Rumble to Air on ESPN
In related WWE news, ESPN will air a condensed version of Royal Rumble 2026 this Sunday, February 22, on its main broadcast channel. The original event aired on ESPN Unlimited on January 31. This is a shift from the usual exclusive streaming on ESPN Unlimited and is part of an effort to promote upcoming WWE Premium Live Events and evaluate viewership data for over-the-air presentations. Ringside News provided details on this broadcast change.
