Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans overnight following an alleged physical altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations, according to TMZ. The incident occurred just after midnight Tuesday outside a bar in the French Quarter.

Video footage obtained by TMZ shows LaBeouf, shirtless with a visible back tattoo, confronting a group of people. He was also filmed attempting to speak with an individual on the street. Eyewitnesses reported that bar staff escorted LaBeouf out before the brawl ensued.

Following the altercation, LaBeouf reportedly returned to the front of the bar where paramedics provided medical attention. Footage shows him interacting with Emergency Medical Service workers although being treated. He was subsequently transported in an ambulance with flashing lights.

The 39-year-old actor has a history of addiction and mental health challenges, including a 2017 arrest in Savannah, Georgia, for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, which led to court-mandated rehab TMZ. He has publicly discussed his struggles with sobriety and linked his past substance abuse to untreated trauma and PTSD from childhood.

Recent reports indicate LaBeouf had been on a bar crawl in New Orleans since Thursday, leading up to Mardi Gras. The Hollywood Reporter noted that witnesses described him as “inebriated” and “somewhat belligerent” at Ms Mae’s bar on Sunday, where he attempted to act as a “celebrity bartender.” Some reports described him as “terrorizing the city” LADbible.

LaBeouf posted a picture of himself wearing Mardi Gras beads on his X account, but has not publicly commented on the arrest or the allegations of a days-long binge. Representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.
