Bondi Shooting: Netanyahu Blames Australian PM, Cites Palestine Recognition

Tel Aviv – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese following teh mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, which killed at least 15 people.Netanyahu accused Albanese of further “fanning the flames of antisemitism” by recognizing a Palestinian state.

This is not the first time Netanyahu has criticized Albanese. The Israeli PM previously called Albanese a weak leader, after Australia granted official recognition to the state of Palestine last September.

In an impassioned speech, as reported by ABC News and Sydney Morning herald on December 15, 2025, Netanyahu said that “antisemitism is a cancer” and that it “spreads when leaders remain silent”. The shooting at Bondi Beach occurred during an annual Jewish festival.
