Siege Perilous Releases "Ancient Rite" Lyric Video for New Concept Album "Becoming the Dragon"

Colorado-based power metal band Siege Perilous has unveiled the official lyric video for "Ancient Rite," the second chapter in their 2026 concept album Becoming the Dragon. The release marks a key milestone in the band’s ten-part narrative saga following the protagonist known as the "Child of Prophecy."

The lyric video, available on YouTube and Bandcamp, visually interprets the song’s thematic core: the hero’s arrival at the Cave of the Ancient Ones, where destiny is revealed through prophecy. As described by vocalist Shaughnessy McDaniel, the track establishes a somber and ominous atmosphere, serving as the narrative foundation for the album’s unfolding epic.

"Ancient Rite" follows the previously released singles "As the Dragon Falls" (featuring Fabio Lione of Rhapsody and Angra) and "Echoes of Home" (featuring Kristin Starkey of Twilight Force and Temperance), continuing the album’s tradition of collaborative guest appearances. The full Becoming the Dragon album is now available for streaming and purchase across digital platforms, with physical editions including CD and a limited-run 12" vinyl pressing in Draconic Red.

The song’s lyrics, drawn from the Bandcamp release, reflect the album’s mythic tone:

Centuries so long ago
Destiny etched in stone
Brought here by the whispered wind
To redeem us of our sins
All we’ve built will be in vain
‘Til the Dragon’s slain

Siege Perilous continues to position Becoming the Dragon as a fully realized concept album chronicling the rise, fall, and transformation of its central character. "Ancient Rite" serves as the first true narrative step after the album’s orchestral overture, setting the stage for subsequent tracks such as "Chieftain" and "Eschaton," which explore the hero’s confrontation with fate and ultimate destiny.

Fans can access the lyric video via the band’s official YouTube channel or stream the track on Siege Perilous’ Bandcamp page, where the full album is available for digital download and physical purchase.
