Boise State to Host “Side B” Songwriting Competition with $1,000 Scholarship Prize

Boise State University‘s School of the Arts and Department of Music are collaborating to host “Side B: Bronco Songwriting Collective,” a two-day workshop and songwriting competition aimed at fostering musical creativity across campus. The initiative seeks to broaden student engagement with music and the art of songwriting.

Open to all undergraduate and graduate students, the competition will follow a workshop designed to inspire and refine songwriting skills. Students are encouraged to submit their original compositions for a chance to compete for notable prizes.

Significant Dates:

  • Submission Deadline: March 1,2026
  • Final Concert & Competition: Friday,March 27,2026,at the Centennial Amphitheatre during Treefort at Boise State

A panel of judges will select ten finalists to perform live at the final concert. The winner of the competition will be awarded a $1,000 love MISSA Songwriting Scholarship, valid for one year, and a four-hour professional recording session with renowned producer Steve Fulton. The second-place winner will receive a two-hour recording session at Boise State, facilitated by a talented student audio engineer. Additional prizes will be announced closer to the event date.

“Side B: Bronco Songwriting Collective” provides a unique platform for Boise State students to showcase their musical talents and gain valuable experience in the songwriting process. The competition is expected to draw a diverse range of musical styles and perspectives, enriching the campus arts community.
