Soneium Shifts to IP Economy With 250 Apps

On October 26, the Sony-supported blockchain network Soneium announced a strategic pivot toward a tokenized intellectual property and native token ecosystem, aiming to expand creator royalties across more than 250 integrated applications. The updated roadmap introduces a framework allowing creators, studios, and fans to participate in the economic lifecycle of entertainment assets through programmable ownership, licensing, and automated revenue sharing.

Entertainment is built by creators, and this new phase is designed to help them secure funding, test new expressive forms, and connect with audiences at scale, Soneium Protocol head Yuji Kumagai said in the announcement.

Tokenized IP Integration With Moriusa and K-Pop Streaming

The network’s core innovation relies on tokenized IP, representing the future economic value of creative projects on-chain. These digital assets take the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for fan engagement or fungible tokens serving as primary currency within specific IP economies, complete with automated revenue-splitting capabilities.

Tokyo-based entertainment firm Super State Holdings’ character IP, Moriusa, serves as the initial test case for this model, supporting merchandise, short animated series, and wider licensing ventures. Additionally, a partnership with K-pop enterprise Dayonedream will tokenize live concert streaming royalties, paving the way for entertainment revenue-backed bond products.

ERC-8432 Adoption and Future Token Launch

To facilitate cross-platform licensing and autonomous discovery, Soneium has adopted the ERC-8432 standard. This provides a machine-readable licensing interface enabling human operators and autonomous AI agents to verify and settle rights agreements independently of platform dependencies.

The network’s native token will function as the overarching economic layer to align incentives among creators, rights holders, developers, and users. Soneium stated that details regarding the official token generation event will be released at a later date, with user access managed through the Soneium Portal and the Startale app.
