St Finbarr’s Secure Victory Over Sarsfields in Red FM Senior Hurling League Clash

St Finbarr’s continued their winning run in the 2026 Red FM Division 1 Hurling League with a hard-fought victory over Sarsfields at Riverstown on Thursday night. The Barrs, missing several key players, showed strength in depth to overcome the holders in a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire.

Both teams entered the game with identical records of two wins and one loss, setting the stage for a competitive battle. St Finbarr’s started strongly, surging into an early three-point lead by the sixth minute, fueled by the combined threat of Ben Cunningham and Jack Cahalane posing problems for the Sarsfields defence.

The opening exchanges were frantic, with Sarsfields nearly breaking through just 40 seconds in when Cian Darcy showed great pace, but his final pass was spoiled. St Finbarr’s responded by winning the majority of dirty ball, and when Cunningham brought his total to four points in the 14th minute, the Barrs extended their lead to five points.

Jack Cahalane was named man of the match for his awesome performance, finishing with a 1-3 tally. Ben Cunningham once again served as the team’s leading talisman, contributing 10 points. Their combined efforts were instrumental in securing the victory for St Finbarr’s.

The win maintains St Finbarr’s momentum in the league as they look to build on their recent rich vein of form ahead of the forthcoming championship.
