Spotify It has become a faithful companion for the vast majority of users because they listen to their favorite songs or podcasts while they go to work, drive, play sports or clean the house. In it latest earnings reportSpotify has announced that the number of monthly active users increased by 11% year-on-year to reach 751 million, taking into account that this popularity is due to the integration of new functions, cross-platform availability, easy-to-use interface and personalization algorithm highly effective. Although this last point mentioned can fail on more than one occasion.

Surely you have gone through the situation that you are listening to music in shuffle mode and, suddenly, a song has started playing that doesn’t quite convince you. This is because, on some occasion, you will have played a musical style very different from yours because your Spotify account has been used to play music during meetings with family or friends. However, there is a trick so this doesn’t happen again.

Basically you have to ‘reeducate’ the algorithm through the following steps that we explain below:

  • Open Spotify.
  • Enter ‘Profile‘.
  • Scroll down to the most listened to songs of this month, Click on the three points of the song and select ‘Exclude from your taste profile‘, this way the selected songs will leave ‘Discover Weekly’ or ‘Daily Mix’.

Additionally, this trick can be done in a more global way. Instead of excluding a song, Complete lists or even entire albums can be removed from the taste profile with the same ‘Exclude from your taste profile’ button.

On the other hand, if these two tricks do not work or are not entirely practical, you can also open ‘Configuration‘ → ‘Storage‘ → ‘Clear cache‘ to remove temporary file storage of played songs, as well as save data, free up space and avoid application crashes.
