The company, founded by a collective of indie creators, is not only building out its core superhero line but also venturing into horror with a new series tied to the existing Hospice comic.

The foundation of this expanding universe is Summit: Pinnacle, a giant-sized anthology featuring over a dozen stories. This one-shot serves as the entry point for readers into the interconnected world of Summit Comics. Following Summit: Pinnacle, the universe will continue to grow with further expansions like Summit Presents.

Hospice: The Curious Case of Dr. Vane – A Summit Comics Story: A Dive into Horror

Adding a darker dimension to the Summit Universe is Hospice: The Curious Case of Dr. Vane – A Summit Comics Story, a new horror series created in collaboration with Travis Gibb’s Orange Cone Productions. The series, featuring art by Rolands Kalnins, centers around Dr. Vane, a brilliant scientist who unlocks the secrets of multiverse travel. However, his discovery unleashes a dangerous entity that threatens his mind, and memories.

According to Adam Barnhardt, one of the founders of Summit Comics, the story is “very much an examination of mental illness and memory loss diseases.”

Interconnected Worlds: Summit and Hospice

While the Hospice universe traditionally doesn’t feature superheroes, the narrative of Dr. Vane establishes a connection between the two worlds. Barnhardt explained that the timing aligned with the development of the Summit Universe, revealing that there are at least 783 different universes within the overall Summit multiverse.

The Power of Collaboration in Independent Comics

Barnhardt emphasized the collaborative spirit driving Summit Comics and the independent comic book community. He highlighted the benefits of working with fellow creators, citing examples of artists and writers contributing to both Hospice Season Two and other Summit projects. He noted the importance of finding like-minded creators to collaborate with, even starting with a simple writing group.
