Tampa General Hospital Recognized as Top Hospital in Tampa Bay for Eighth Consecutive Year
Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has been named the leading hospital in the Tampa Bay area and a top-three hospital in Florida by Newsweek’s “World’s Best Hospitals 2026” rankings. This marks the eighth consecutive year TGH has been recognized in the global rankings, earning the designation of an “8-Year Champion & All-Time Winner.”
Commitment to Innovation and Quality Care
“Earning a place among Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals for the eighth consecutive year reflects the bold, forward-looking work our teams are doing every day to raise the bar for health care,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Florida Health Sciences Center | Tampa General Hospital. TGH is investing in innovation, advancing academic medicine, and scaling new models of care to deliver better outcomes and a more seamless patient experience.
Leadership in Infection Prevention
In addition to overall hospital rankings, TGH has been recognized by Newsweek and Statista for its advancements in infection prevention. This achievement stems from the hospital’s utilize of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to identify patients at high risk for severe infections.
Sepsis Hub: A Proactive Approach
TGH partnered with Palantir and physician-scientists to develop the Sepsis Hub, an advanced sepsis monitoring tool within its Care Coordination Center. The Sepsis Hub uses real-time data from the electronic health record to provide early insight into potential sepsis cases, enabling clinicians to intervene earlier. As of July 2025, the Sepsis Hub has saved 569 lives and contributed to a 30% reduction in sepsis patients’ length of stay.
