TCL Advances Display Tech with Nxtpaper AMOLED and Launches Nxtpaper 70 Pro

TCL unveiled advancements in its display technology at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, showcasing a novel Nxtpaper AMOLED display alongside the launch of the Nxtpaper 70 Pro smartphone. The company aims to combine eye comfort with flagship-level visual performance, addressing limitations of previous LCD-based Nxtpaper screens.

Nxtpaper AMOLED: A New Era for Eye Comfort

TCL’s new Nxtpaper AMOLED technology integrates the benefits of AMOLED displays with features designed to reduce eye strain. This marks a significant evolution from the Nxtpaper 4.0 technology, offering improved brightness, outdoor visibility and color accuracy. The new display achieves a peak brightness of 3,200 nits and 100% P3 color gamut coverage. Key features include a 90% circular polarization rate to minimize glare, blue light reduction of up to 15% (down to 2.9%), and adaptive brightness/color temperature adjustments based on ambient lighting. An anti-flare coating and light-homogenizing film further enhance the reading experience, particularly in ereader mode.

Nxtpaper 70 Pro: Bringing Enhanced Comfort to a Smartphone

The Nxtpaper 70 Pro, available in Europe from February 2026, features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ Nxtpaper 4.0 display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display minimizes glare and reduces blue light emission, offering a matte texture and faithful color reproduction. A dedicated Nxtpaper button allows users to switch between full-color, color paper, and black-and-white Max Ink modes, optimizing the display for various reading scenarios. In Max Ink mode, the device can provide up to one week of continuous reading or 26 days of standby time. The phone too supports the T-Pen for note-taking and content creation.

Under the Hood: Specs and Features

The Nxtpaper 70 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM (and up to 16GB of virtual RAM) and up to 512GB of storage. It boasts a 5,200mAh battery with 33W USB-C fast charging. The camera system includes a 50MP main sensor with optical stabilization and an 8MP wide-angle lens, alongside a 32MP front-facing camera. The device supports 4K video recording and features Super Night Mode for improved low-light photography.

AI Integration and Software

The Nxtpaper 70 Pro runs on Android 16, incorporating AI features from both TCL, and Google. Users can expect access to the Gemini assistant, real-time subtitling and speech translation tools, AI-powered transcriptions and note summaries, text generation capabilities, and an AI assistant for content editing.

TCL TAB A1 Plus: Multimedia Tablet with Enhanced Display

TCL also showcased the TAB A1 Plus, a 12.2-inch multimedia tablet featuring TCL CSOT technology. The tablet offers a resolution of 2,400 x 1,600 pixels, a maximum brightness of 550 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with four speakers and an all-metal unibody construction. Powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor and 6GB of RAM, the TAB A1 Plus offers 128GB of internal storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD. It features an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The tablet runs Android 16, with an upgrade to Android 17 planned, and will receive security updates until November 2028.
