First Look at Science Saru‘s ‘jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia’

“This is the tale of a witch…” Science Saru, the acclaimed Japanese animation studio, has released a first look teaser for their upcoming film, Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia. The film is directed by Abel Gongora, known for his work on Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye and “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.”

Jaadugar is the next major animation project from Science Saru, the studio behind hits like inu-Oh, The Colors Within, and Ride Your Wave. The story centers on a witch who impacts a vast continent. It’s set in the 13th century, during the reign of Genghis Khan and his expansion of the mongolian Empire. One young woman, educated by scholars, disrupts his plans in Iran.

this is the story of Jaadugar, the “witch in Mongolia.” As the teaser suggests, “her quiet days come to an end, and the wheels of fate begin to turn.” The voice cast hasn’t been revealed yet. The animation style feels reminiscent of the charming film Little Amelie. Keep an eye out for more updates on Jaadugar, which will debut on TV in Japan in July 2026 – it won’t be released in theaters.
