A gravestone discovered at a thrift store in the Netherlands is prompting a search for the deceased woman’s family.Gideon italiaander, the owner of the thrift store located on Lakenblekerstraat, confirmed to RTL News that the stone was recently brought to his shop.
Italiaander initiated a public appeal on his Facebook page (link to Facebook post) on January 18, 2026, sharing a photograph of the gravestone. The stone marks the final resting place of a woman born in 1896 adn who passed away in 1989.
“Do you know this stone,or do you know who it belongs to? We would very much like to hear from you. We will treat it with all respect,” Italiaander wrote in his post. He expressed his desire to return the gravestone to the appropriate family members or relatives, ensuring it is indeed handled with dignity and reverence.
