Texas Comptroller Candidate Don Huffines Linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s Ranch

Don Huffines, a former Texas state senator and current candidate for comptroller, has been identified as the owner of the Novel Mexico ranch formerly belonging to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. The revelation has sparked scrutiny as Huffines campaigns for a prominent financial position within the state.

Purchase Details and Ownership

The Huffines family purchased the Zorro Ranch, a nearly 10,000-acre property in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, in 2023 through San Rafael Ranch LLC. According to a statement from Huffines’ campaign spokesperson, Allen Blakemore, the purchase occurred at a public auction four years after Epstein’s death, with proceeds benefiting his victims. Blakemore stated the family had never visited the property prior to the auction.

Public records connected the LLC to Mary Catherine Huffines, listed as the “client/property owner.” The property was initially valued at $21.1 million for the 2023 tax year, but the Huffines family protested this valuation, citing the “notoriety” of the property. The Santa Fe County assessor subsequently revalued the property to $13.4 million.

Huffines’ Campaign and Political Standing

Huffines is running for Texas Comptroller, a position responsible for managing the state’s finances. He describes himself as a “MAGA Trump Republican” and is campaigning on a platform of government efficiency. He has received endorsements from prominent figures including Ted Cruz, Riley Gaines, Ron Paul and Vivek Ramaswamy. Recent polls indicate he is leading in the Republican primary race.

Epstein’s Ranch and Past Allegations

Epstein’s Zorro Ranch was the site of alleged abuse and sex trafficking. Reports suggest powerful individuals visited the ranch, including a former governor of New Mexico. The ranch was also reportedly the location of Epstein’s plans to spread his DNA.

Huffines’ campaign has not responded to questions regarding the purpose of the property purchase.
