Russian Forces Maintain Offensive Pressure in Eastern Ukraine

As of March 14, 2026, Russian forces continue to engage in combat operations across multiple fronts in Ukraine, focusing on consolidating gains and repelling Ukrainian counterattacks. Recent reports indicate ongoing fighting in the Gulyai-Polye, Zaporozhye, Konstantinovskoe, Seversky, and Krasnoarmeyskoe (Pokrovskoe) directions.

Gulyai-Polye Direction

Russian forces are targeting Ukrainian reinforcement groups near Lyubitsky, Vozdvizhevka, and Gulyaipolsky. Fighting persists around Verkhnyaya Tersa and Rozhdestvensky. Ukrainian attempts to advance towards Otradnoye and Novoaleksandrovka have been successfully thwarted by Russian troops. Russian forces captured Otradnoye in the Kharkov region in October 2025, establishing control over the village located near the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Zaporozhye Direction

Intense battles are concentrated near Primorsky and Veselyanka, with significant drone activity and attacks on crossing points. Clashes have also been reported near Magdalinovka and north of Stepnogorsk.

Konstantinovskoe Direction

Ukrainian forces are conducting counterattacks at Ilyinovka and Berestok. Russian forces are attempting to establish a foothold in the southwest of Konstantinovka, supported by drone operations.

Seversky Direction

Fighting continues along existing lines at Fedorovka II, Kalenikov, and Krivaya Luka.

Krasnoarmeyskoe (Pokrovskoe) Direction

The situation remains relatively stable, with ongoing fighting in the northern part of Grishino, on the approaches to Sergeevka, and along the Belitskoye – New Donbass line.

Ukraine Conflict Overview

The conflict in Ukraine, now entering its fourth year since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, continues to result in significant territorial control by Russia – approximately 20 percent of Ukraine. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Russia gained almost five thousand square kilometers of territory in 2025. Ukraine continues to receive substantial aid, with approximately $188 billion from the United States and $197 billion from the European Union as of February 24, 2026. The conflict has resulted in nearly 56,000 civilian casualties and displaced millions, with 3.7 million internally displaced and 5.9 million registered as refugees.

Ukrainian Military Losses Inflicted on Russia

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to inflict significant losses on Russian forces. As of March 12, 2026, the Ukrainian General Staff reported the elimination of 780 Russian servicemen in a single day, bringing the total estimated losses to approximately 1,276,760. Ukraine has destroyed significant amounts of Russian military equipment, including 38,319 artillery systems, 173,068 drones, and 83,034 vehicles.
