UN Security Council Approves Trump’s Gaza Peace Troop Idea

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) emphasized that sending peacekeeping troops to Gaza, Palestine, is still awaiting instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.

This was conveyed in response to the United Nations (UN) Security Council (DK) approving the United States (US) President Donald Trump’s government plan regarding security and governance mechanisms in Gaza with the deployment of international troops.

“All decisions remain at the direction of the President,” said Head of the Defense Data Bureau of the ministry of Defense, Colonel TNI Arm Rico Ricardo Sirait when confirmed, Wednesday (19/11/2025).

However, rico emphasized that the Indonesian government was prepared according to its capacity and long experience in peace missions.

While waiting for President Prabowo’s instructions, the government is now focusing on internal preparations within the Ministry of Defense and TNI, starting from mapping troop needs to logistical readiness and capabilities needed for complex stabilization operations.

“The Minister of Defense has also emphasized that Indonesia can be involved if one of two conditions is met: a direct mandate from the UN or approval from the United States as the party pushing for the formation of an international stabilization force under the plan currently being discussed,” he said.

On the other hand, Rico confirmed that there had been no set departure schedule for peacekeeping troops to Gaza.

“Even though the UN has adopted a resolution that opens up the opportunity to deploy international troops, national political decisions remain the determining factor,” said Rico.

Thus, all mechanisms and temporary plans are still being discussed internally.
